I may probably do a site for lankans to upload the actual spam emails sent to them.. backend script can be developed to extract keys info about the emails.. the only problem is who will be interested.. The only annoying lankan mass mailling i've received is from a company called Onyx. Its pain in the ass

Actually, I blogged about this some time ago. I told people to use the LaneTop forum to list out spammers and SL companies that are using spam to advertise.

I have now created a thread for this purpose. You can check it out here.

Sorry, I changed the links in your comment to url text (hope thats OK).

Yo, why don't you set up a database on your forum where we can list all these companies.

actually, if you ask to be removed, they mark your email as a live one and redouble their spam :O

I know of two companies that offer mass emailing services:

Langcavi offers to send your email to 23,500 email addresses. Not sure how much it costs though. Perhaps you can email them and find out. (http://www.langcavi.com/emailadvertisements.htm)

FYI, Langcavi have also listed the companies that have advertised through them on their website. It's quite a long list... (http://www.langcavi.com/clientlist.htm)

Apparelnet offers to email 28,000 addresses for Rs. 750. (http://www.apparelnet.net/)

I think there are other players in the SL spam market but these are the main two offenders, I think. The worst thing about them is that if you ask to be removed from their mailing list, they say okay, but you never get removed. That's my experience, anyway.

(edit - links were changed to text urls)
